Built in Logan, for the Hocking Hills
Reliable Tree Service LLC was founded by Justin in 2015 and has been headquartered in Logan ever since — on West Hunter Street, in the county seat of Hocking County, in the middle of the territory it serves. That address matters more in tree work than in most trades. Search for tree service around here and much of what you'll find is written from somewhere else: companies a county or two away that treat Logan as a pin on a coverage map. Reliable was built the other way around. This is home, and the work radiates out from it — into town, around Lake Logan, and up the gravel drives of cabin country.
Eleven years later, the numbers tell the story plainly: 5,000 projects completed and 300 emergency responses across Logan and the surrounding counties, for homeowners, farms, businesses, and the cabin properties this region runs on.
Trees here don't make it easy
The Hocking Hills are a hard place to be a tree — and a harder place to work on one. Oaks, hickories, and maples grow out of thin, sandstone-derived ridge soil that can let go in a saturated spring windstorm. Hemlocks shade the gorges and, as the woolly adelgid spreads through the Hocking Hills, more of them stand in decline over the cabins and trails beneath them. Since the emerald ash borer came through, standing-dead ash line rural driveways in every corner of the county, brittle and waiting on the next storm.
And then there's winter. Ice is the season that fills the phone lines here — in February 2022, an ice storm hit Hocking County harder than any of Ohio's 88 counties, dropping trees and limbs onto lines and roads across the region. A tree company in this market has to be comfortable with steep drives, tight in-town lots under century-old maples, and careful, controlled work staged over roofs, cabins, and rural power drops. That is exactly the work Reliable Tree Service was built around.
How we run the company
The standards haven't changed since 2015. Every estimate is in writing, priced after we've actually looked at the tree, what's underneath it, and how we'll reach it. The company is bonded and insured, and we'd rather show proof up front than ask you to take our word for it — in a trade where the cheapest bid is usually an uninsured crew, that piece of paper is the whole difference. The line is answered around the clock, because that's what 24/7 support and emergency tree removal means in practice. And money shouldn't be the reason a hazard tree keeps standing: Special Financing Available, and we work with major insurance providers when storm damage turns into a claim.
Vacation-rental owners get the same treatment on a tighter clock — with more than a thousand cabins and short-term rentals in the Logan and Hocking Hills market, we're used to working between guest turnovers and putting hazard trees on the ground before the next check-in.
